DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF YORK COUNTY TO SUSPEND ALL UPCOMING IN PERSON EVENTS
YORK, PA – The following is a statement from Democratic Party of York County Chair Chad Baker regarding upcoming events and activities for the party:
Until further notice, the Democratic Party of York County is suspending all public events including our upcoming Governor Tom Wolf State of the County Committee Spring Breakfast. Additionally, we are calling for all candidates to suspend door to door canvassing and public events. We are also asking any Democratic club or organization affiliated with the Democratic Party of York County to postpone or cancel any upcoming meetings or events. Meetings scheduled this Saturday for the Western York County Democratic Club and the Northern York County Democratic Club have already been cancelled.
The Democratic Party of York County Headquarters in York and our office in Hanover will also be making staffing adjustments, which may alter the times the office will be open. This is being done as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all of our volunteers.
This action is in direct correlation and consideration of public health and the spread of the COVID 19 virus. As per recommendations from state and federal health officials, we are suspending any events that may allow for the virus to spread. While there have been no reported presumed or confirmed cases in York County, the leadership of the Democratic Party of York County feel this is in the best public interest at this time.
The Democratic Party of York County encourages all potential voters, especially those that fall in the demographics at the highest risk of contracting the virus, to take this opportunity to visit votespa.com and apply for the new mail-in ballot. This will allow voters to avoid the polling places during the upcoming primary election and vote, without excuse, from home. Applications are currently available.
For those who RSVP’d or contributed to our annual Governor Tom Wolf State of the County Committee Spring Breakfast, you will be contacted personally regarding the intent of those contributions.
Additional updates will be provided through the Democratic Party of York County’s website, www.yorkdems.org, and online through our various social media outlets.
