To All Proud Democrats in York County:

Primary Election Day 2008 is nearing! Pennsylvania is the pivotal state that could be decisive in choosing the Democratic candidate for President. The presidential candidates and our local, high quality candidates are making campaign appearances, walking in parades, knocking on doors, making phone calls - everything necessary to lead to victory on April 22.

The Democratic Party of York County is working hard to give them help in many ways.

The time has now come when your candidates and your county party need just a LITTLE help from you to:

- make phone calls to voters
- deliver literature to Democratic households
- place yard signs
- hand out literature to voters at the polls
- check-off names of Democrats as they vote

An investment of even just 2 or 3 hours of your time between now and the close of the polls on April 22 CAN have a measurable impact. Help put our candidates over the top and bring about the positive changes in government we all seek.

Dear County Chairs,

It’s a lot of info but it’s important! Please take a moment to read everything. Here is a recap of our conference call this week including some new items and contact info that I promised you.

Mary Isenhour
As you know, Mary Isenhour has temporary left the State Party to run the Hillary Campaign in PA. In her absence Abe Amoros will be the acting Executive Director.

Campaigns on the ground
Both the Obama and Hillary campaigns are setting up offices all around the state and putting staff on the ground. If you’re not sure who your contact for EITHER campaign is, please call the office, 717-920-8470. We have lots of great contact info for you. (Mary is not your contact for the Hillary campaign!)

Your Events
The campaigns are going to be looking for events, as is the press. Please be sure to put your events on our website, www.padems.com as well as on the DNC website. (Follow directions for adding an event.) These are two sources the press uses to find events.

Candidates to your Events
If you would like to invite either or both of the campaigns/candidates to an event in your county, here is the contact info:

You probably have a very good chance of getting someone from either campaign to your event!

Press!!!
We are getting MANY calls from the press, as will you. Several news organizations have asked for our list of County Chairs and it’s public record so they now have your names. If you get a call from the National, or local press, please feel free to refer them to Abe Amoros, 717-920-8470, amoros@padems.com . We much prefer to handle these requests through the State Party as it’s very important that we’re all on the same page. Please use Abe as the great resource that he is. We’re much better organized than we had been in the past and hope to avoid some of the blunders other people have made in the past few weeks!

Press for the Campaigns
If your local press asks you for contact info for either of the campaigns we also have that here at the office. Every day we send an email with all of the requests to each of the campaigns’ media directors. Please send any requests here to our office. You can either call them in (717-920-8470), or email to Nick Jackal at nick@padems.com. We need to know the name of the person, the organization and their phone or email. If you prefer, you can just ask the local media to contact Nick directly.

Neighborhood Leader Program
We’re getting ready to kick off the Neighborhood Leader (NL) Program. If you have any additional people who have signed up, please get their names to me ASAP! Also, in VAN we have tagged each person who has signed up as a NL. To find the people in your county here is how you make a list:
          Log in to votebuilder
          go to Create a List
          scroll down to Activist Code and open that field
          hit the drop down arrow next to the window labeled Activist Code
          click on Precinct Leader: Neighborhood Leader
          go back to the top right and hit search
This will give you a list of all the people who have signed up to be a NL in your county. If you have no idea what I’m talking about then you had better give me a call to set up a VAN training! It is 2008 and this is the voter file that will be used for the coordinated campaign. If you want to be a player this year, you need to be using it!

Updates to the Voter File
Just so you know, there had been an update (addresses, etc) to the voter file in January. Right now we are in the middle of another one and the info should be completely uploaded by the middle of next week.

State Party Mailing to Newly Registered Dems
The PA State Party is planning on a mailing to the over 40,000 newly registered Democrats in Pennsylvania. We will be getting the list from the Dept of State at 5pm on March 24th (last day to register) and uploading that info VAN. The mailing will come out just a few days later.
